President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s panicking government has ordered the state controlled Power FM radio station to cancel a scheduled interview with Zimdancehall superstar Winky D. The popular musician, real name Wallace Chirumiko, is set to launch a new album called “Njema” which has unnerved the government because of what it perceives as politically charged songs.
zimbolivenews sources claim Winky D’s interview with Chamvary set for 1:30 to 2:30pm today has been cancelled with the reason being given that the station will prioritise a sponsored programme.
But zimbolivenews sources claim the government has even gone further to instruct all radio stations to stop playing his music especially the new album.
“The song Ijipita has thrown the Zanu PF government into panic and they are moving to ban his music. They have already told Power FM to scrap their interview with him,” the source told us.
Meanwhile all is set Winky D’s “Njema Album Launch” at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) on Tuesday, the 31st of December.
A ZBC News parody account on Social Media as posted a hilarious post announcing that Winky D’s upcoming album, Njema has already been banned before it’s been released.
The post claims that Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe has banned the album citing its lyrics are political. Some people were quick to recognise that it was a parody account and some disappointed by the news had to approach the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) yesterday to confirm and BAZ did not comment anything .
Some fans could not accept this and were showing their feelings through their comments on one social media platform saying”ndana satan vasingadi kuona zvakanaka “. And some are saying these are Winky D’ s rivals who are behind all this.Kuda kudira jecha .
When a song is banned it is announced formally. It is also not possible for a whole Album to be banned before it’s even released.
Winky D’s Njema will be released on the 31st of December 2019.
