Popular charismatic United Family International Church (UFIC) leader, Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa has furiously lashed out at the “small boys” around President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa seemed incensed at some senior government officials who had criticised his alleged coronavirus prophecy.
Makandiwa took time in his sermon to remind these officials, whom he termed ‘small boys’ that he was the only prophet who had saved President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s life. He goes on to say that these government officials are only in office because they were promoted by President Emmerson Mnangagwa after he (Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa) had saved Mnangagwa’s life. Prophet Makandiwa says that all the senior government officials who are attacking him should actually be grateful to him for their livelihoods because he is the one who saved Mnangagwa’s life.
Makandiwa seems to be referring to the time when (then) Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa was airlifted to South Africa following reports that he had been poisoned at a Zanu PF youth interface rally in Gwanda in August 2017.
A few days after the poisoning incident, United Family International Church (UFIC) spokesperson Pastor Prime Kufa said that Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa had prophesied Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s food poisoning incident on April 9, 2017. In the prophecy which was recorded on video, Prophet Makandiwa said,
I see someone in authority, who is loyal to a higher office, swallowing poison through food and vomiting blood and rushed to the hospital and only prayer can save him.
Speaking during the sermon, Prophet Makandiwa reiterates this saying,
I am the one, the only prophet who said let us pray for this person. No witch doctor in Zimbabwe, no any other prophet in here or outside. I declare thee, I said if we are not to pray, only pray can save this man and the man was saved. And after he was saved, he promoted all these little boys.
Shouldn’t you be grateful that there was a prophet who saved a man who is now serving you, who is serving your pocket, who is serving your family. You can’t be smart and still be fighting God. You can’t.
Every single that I have uttered, I can stand by my prophecy, the same way Jeremiah did.
A few weeks back, Sunday Mail editor Victoria Ruzvido, who is a member of UFIC was censured publicly by Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Ndavaningi ‘Nick’ Mangwana, after she ran with a feature article titled, “Prophet Makandiwa foretold coronavirus.” The article received a lot of criticism on social media with many prominent media people arguing that the article did not serve any public interest.
