Norton Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa has absolved President Emmerson Mnangagwa from any involvement in the arrests of Senior MDC leaders.
The firebrand politician said the 2nd dispensation was reneging from abiding by the spirit that birthed it. The political trajectory that we had taken at the start of the Second Republic is at variance with the current wave of arrests of public figures and prominent persons whose arrest isn't seemingly premised on the sincere application of the law.
Are we still at the same level as before? How can we convince others that we are reforming and moving on when we are still exhibiting unreformed mentalities. I don't believe Mnangagwa is behind this but some sections out to tarnish his standing."
Mliswa added that the arrests of Tendai Biti and other MDC officials was more of persecvution that lawful arrests.
"In any modern democracy there are certain personalities you don't just arrest on flimsy ground unless you have solid cases so that it doesn't appear as persecution disguised as law enforcement. This calls into question the arrests of people like @BitiTendai and @adv_fulcrum.
