Zimbabwean Going To Rural Areas To Escape Coronavirus
Many people in the city centers of Zimbabwe are moving to the rural areas in their numbers. Zimbolivenews crew visited Mbare bus terminus this morning to report on the situation.
Many Zimbabweans feel if they are in the rural areas it's less crowded and chances of infection are less. Also staying in the rural areas is a lot cheaper . People believe by going rural, they are fleeing from the urban areas that are believed to have a higher concentration of coronavirus. Self distancing is natural in the rural areas. Houses are spaced. Since the major cause of the outbreak of coronavirus are people who travelled overseas, most of the travellers reside in urban areas and rarely visit the country side
Most people in Harare live from hand to mouth. They do not have meaningful savings. Rural life is cheap. Peasants in the country side grow crops and rear animals for consumption. Life in rural areas is relatively cheap
