A young girl from Hwange is receiving treatment for serious injuries following a vicious attack by a Rottweiler earlier this month.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police in Matabeleland North confirmed the life-threatening incident and said investigations are underway.
The attack adds to a growing number of cases involving aggressive dogs in Zimbabwe. In June last year, a 39-year-old man, Samuel Machara was fatally attacked by a pitbull in Harare.
In another case, a nine-year-old girl died in 2023 in Whitecliffe after sustaining injuries from a pitbull attack.
Authorities have expressed concern over the rising number of such incidents and are urging pet owners to exercise greater responsibility in handling potentially dangerous dogs.
