(“The one whose money was rejected, his ancestors and God are strong.”)Man Cheated Death After Torn Note Got Him Kicked Off Kombi In Seke Road Accident
A man cheated death after being forced to disembark from a commuter omnibus involved in the horrific Seke Road crash that claimed 17 lives on Tuesday, 22 July 2025. He was reportedly kicked out just moments before the fatal journey continued—all because of a torn dollar note.
The incident, now being widely discussed online, has left Zimbabweans stunned, with many calling it a divine intervention.
Torn Note Sparks Lifesaving Rejection
According to media personality DJ Ollah 7, the man had boarded the ill-fated kombi headed towards Chitungwiza but was ejected at Waterworks—just 500 metres from the site of the deadly crash—after the conductor refused to accept his torn and worn-out dollar note.
DJ Ollah 7, who was one of the first media figures at the scene, reported that the man was travelling to Chitungwiza when the conductor insisted he get off due to the state of his money. After being dropped off, the man reportedly walked towards the scene and ended up helping victims who were trapped inside the mangled wreckage.
It remains unclear whether he was initially inside the kombi and then ejected, or whether he was prevented from boarding entirely at Waterworks. However, what is certain is that he was not on board the kombi after Waterworks and, as a result, cheated death.
Tragedy At Hunyani Bridge
The crash occurred at Hunyani Bridge when a haulage truck veered into oncoming traffic after hitting two pedestrians who died on the spot. The truck then collided head-on with a Nissan Caravan kombi carrying 17 passengers.
Police reported that 15 people from the kombi, including the driver, died on the spot. Two others succumbed to injuries later. Only four people survived—three from the kombi and one from the truck. The impact was so severe that the truck overturned and landed on top of the kombi.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to Chitungwiza Hospital mortuary, while the injured were admitted to the same hospital.
