I am one of the girls who work in the Avenues area in Harare. We were attacked by a group of men who were driving a grey Ford Raptor with no number plates.
They beat us badly. Some girls had their legs broken, and others suffered serious head injuries. The men claimed they were CID officers, but we were not sure if that was true.
If what we were doing was illegal, they should have arrested us instead of beating us. We are human beings and we did not deserve that vioIence.
We were already struggling to survive. The money we make barely covers rent, school fees, food, and taking care of our children. Now we are also left with painful injuries and medical bills. We do not know where to go or how to get help.
We are suffering and we are asking for assistance.
