Franklin, PA – The name Blessing David Mabugu has become infamous in Pennsylvania’s Venango County, with a rap sheet that reads like a bizarre crime thriller. From stolen lawnmowers to violent clashes with police, the 30-year-old has made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
In August 2023, Franklin Police say Mabugu was caught up in a strange saga involving a Weed Eater lawnmower. According to court filings, he allegedly stole the machine, returned it broken, and then reported it “missing again.” Officers later tracked the mower back to him, leading to two misdemeanor theft charges. Unable to post bail, Mabugu was jailed at the Venango County Prison.
But this wasn’t his first run-in with the law. Back in July 2021, Mabugu was arrested in Oil City after showing up at a home where he was banned. A confrontation with police spiraled out of control — he resisted arrest, fought with officers, and was ultimately subdued with a taser. Court records say he later admitted he was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time.
Now facing multiple charges across different years, Mabugu’s name is appearing frequently in county dockets. Locals are left shaking their heads at how one man’s string of reckless choices has turned him into one of the area’s most talked-about defendants.
