Karoi Bridge Collision — Truck Slams into Stationary Abnormal Load After Brake Failuredramatic road accident occurred this afternoon on a bridge near Karoi when a haulage truck slammed into the rear of an abnormal load carrier following an apparent brake failure.
Eyewitnesses say the abnormal load truck, branded “VR”, was already on the bridge, moving slowly due to its wide load, when a following haulage truck reportedly lost control and crashed into it from behind. The impact left the smaller truck’s cab completely crushed beneath the rear of the abnormal load trailer.
The collision occurred on a narrow bridge along a busy route used by heavy transporters ferrying mining and construction equipment. The crash caused significant traffic disruption as emergency responders worked to assess the damage and assist the injured.
Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the trailing truck may have experienced brake failure as he approached the bridge, leaving him unable to stop in time. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage, but no fatalities have yet been
