SAD 💔 | Gweru couple found dead in suspected murder-suicide
The Gweru community is in shock after a woman was found dead in a burnt car, and her husband was later found hanging from a tree.
The woman has been identified as Definite Musomekwa, and her husband, Nigel Mukoki, is suspected of killing her before taking his own life.
On August 12, 2025, around 6:00 AM, a passerby spotted a burning Honda Fit along Fletcher Road near King Cobra Mine. Musomekwa’s body was found a short distance from the car, with the upper part still on fire. Police were called to the scene and found the car badly burnt.
Relatives told Central Radio 95.8 that after leaving the burnt car, Mukoki rushed home and told his children not to tell anyone he had been robbed.
At around 2:00 PM the same day, his body was found hanging from a tree. The tragedy happened just three days after the couple returned from a family funeral.
The car involved was borrowed, and Mukoki had taken it to attend a memorial service in his rural home.
