EARTHQUAKE RATTLES NYANGA
Residents in Nyanga and surrounding areas were shaken early Wednesday morning after a moderate earthquake struck neighbouring Mozambique, with tremors felt across parts of Manicaland.
The 4.2 magnitude quake occurred at 3:31am, prompting safety concerns among communities in Nyanga, Makoni and Macheke.
The Meteorological Services Department confirmed the epicentre was in Mozambique, noting the event was linked to tectonic activity along the East African Rift System.
Nyanga District authorities reported mild ground shaking lasting about 30 seconds, with no injuries or property damage recorded so far.
Civil protection structures have been activated as officials urge vigilance in this seismically vulnerable region.
