Police in Mashonaland Central have launched a manhunt for one of their own – an assistant inspector accused of vanishing with a marked police vehicle.
The officer, identified as Assistant Inspector Mandizvidza, is alleged to have driven off with a Ford Ranger emblazoned in police colours from the Police General Headquarters (PGHQ) inInspector Mandizvidza, is alleged to have driven off with a Ford Ranger emblazoned in police colours from the Police General Headquarters (PGHQ) in Harare.An internal police memo dated August 13, instructed all stations in Mashonaland East to set up roadblocks and intercept both the officer and the vehicle.
“May all stations in Mazowe District be on the lookout for ZRP Ford Ranger Reg 033 with police colours being driven by Assistant Inspector Mandizvidza,” read the alert from the Mazowe district police chief.
“The vehicle is stolen at PGHQ by A/Insp Mandizvidza and is believed to be in Mashonaland Central province. Stations to mount roadblocks and patrols to be on the lookout for the stolen vehicle. If located, arrest and detain for CID Bindura.”
