The High Court has ordered the Zimbabwe Republic Police to pay US$42,000 to a Harare woman, Patricia Dengezi, who lost her one-year-old son in a 2017 traffic accident.
Justice Regis Dembure ruled that police created dangerous conditions during a chase with pirate taxis, which led to the child’s death.
The baby was killed when a commuter omnibus, trying to escape police spike strips, swerved off the road and hit them while Dengezi was sitting on the pavement feeding him.
