MASHONALAND CENTRAL-TWO people sustained injuries in a veld fire that broke out in Chiweshe, Mazowe District, on Tuesday.
The blaze, which continued into Wednesday, destroyed 26 huts and resulted in the loss of food supplies and property belonging to 24 families.
The fire affected three wards in the area.
In a separate incident, a hectare of wheat was destroyed by fire at Nyombwe Estates in Glendale, while approximately 2 000 hay bales, estimated to be worth US$ 5 000, and were also lost in the inferno.
Environmental Management Agency (EMA) Mashonaland Central spokesperson, Mr Maxwell Mupotsa, has urged members of the public to exercise caution and refrain from starting veld fires, as the fire season is currently active.
