Minister Lost His Life Sad News Announcement

Minister Torerai Moyo’The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Honourable Torerai Moyo, has lost his father, Sekuru Patron Ngidi, who passed away at the age of 93.
In his heartfelt tribute, Minister Moyo said:Ngidi

Patron Ngidi was a remarkable man who dedicated his life to providing for his family and ensuring they received the best possible education.

Sekuru Ngidi swam in deep pools of life experience. In the 1950s and 60s, he worked at Consolidated Textiles in Bulawayo, navigating the difficult realities of being a black worker in a predominantly white-managed environment. The racial tensions and power dynamics of that era were immense, and it was during this time that he made a bold stand by physically confronting a white supervisor — a taboo and dangerous act of defiance in that context. This incident, which led to his dismissal in 1968, reflected his fighting spirit and unwillingness to be dehumanised.

After leaving Bulawayo, he relocated to Gokwe North, where he became a peasant farmer. His resilience and determination shone through as he tirelessly worked the land — growing cotton, maize, groundnuts, and sunflower — to support his family. Remarkably, despite the many challenges he faced, he managed to educate all seven of his children.

Born in August 1932 in Chivi, Masvingo, Patron Ngidi lived a life marked by hard work, courage, and unwavering commitment to his family. He will be remembered not only for his sacrifices but also for the values he instilled in those around him.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire generations to come.
