The Mutare Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 69-year-old man to 15 years in prison following his conviction for the ra....pe of a mentally challenged woman.
The incident occurred on 26, 2025, in the Chief Marange area. According to court details, the defendant lured the victim to a deserted homestead within the village. Once inside the house, he assaulted and raped her.
The crime was interrupted when an eyewitness, observing through a window, caught the offender in the act. The witness subsequently alerted the victim's mother. The following day, the victim and her mother reported the incident to the police, resulting in the offender's arrest.
