A shocking and bizarre incident unfolded at Wicknell Chivayo’s luxurious mansion after a mysterious owl, locally referred to as “ziti,” was discovered perched inside his gazebo late at night. According to witnesses, the owl appeared out of nowhere and refused to leave despite repeated attempts by staff to chase it away. In many Zimbabwean traditional beliefs, the sudden appearance of an owl at someone’s home—especially at night—is often associated with bad omens, witchcraft, or spiritual attacks. The news of the owl’s presence spread quickly, drawing attention from curious neighbors and sparking intense speculation on social media about what it could mean.
Concerned by the eerie atmosphere and the cultural significance of the event, Wicknell called in a group of respected Maporofita (prophets) to conduct special prayers and cleansing rituals. The gazebo was transformed into a makeshift prayer ground as the prophets sang hymns, anointed the area with holy oil, and fervently prayed to cast out any evil spirits that might have accompanied the owl. Reports suggest that after several hours of prayer, the owl suddenly flew away into the night sky, leaving those present both relieved and unsettled.
