Nigerian authorities have handed over three Ghanaian stowaways to immigration officials after they were found hiding in a cargo ship in Lagos.

The men said they boarded the vessel believing it was headed to Europe—possibly Britain, Canada, or Spain—but it instead arrived in Nigeria, where they were discovered after about five days at sea. Investigators said they used a canoe to climb into the vessel before it left Ivorian waters, carrying simple supplies such as gari, water, biscuits, and sugar. #DWAfrica
