Pashata Ku Sungura Uku Mark Ngwazi Ochallenger Alevk Macheso

Khosa

SUNGURA Artist of the Year, Mark Ngwazi, says he is not challenging superstar Alick Macheso by releasing his next album just three weeks after the legend releases his next album.

Macheso is set to release his 13th album on June 7 at Alex Sports Club.

Three weeks later, Ngwazi’s album  will be launched, on June 29, at Padziva Caravan Camp in Dzivaresekwa Extension.

Simon Mutambi will also release his album, titled Tiri Pamutsetse, on May 23.

However, it is Ngwazi who has divided opinion with some critics saying he is daring Macheso by launching his album in the same month like the legend.

He, however, has cleared the air saying his move was healthy for sungura.

“I’m surprised when people say I am challenging Macheso but we are simply doing music which is healthy for the genre.

“I wish more sungura artists would record more music during the same time to flood the market with sungura as is the case with Zim dancehall artists.

“At one point, Zim dancehall was ruling the roost because they record regularly and why not with sungura?”

Ngwazi, who is billed to share the stage with Macheso at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex this Saturday, urged fans to stop dividing artists.

“My message to the fans is that they must stop unnecessary comparisons because it has a bearing on us.

“If people say I am bigger than Macheso, he might not give us slots at his show.

“After all, Macheso is my uncle by virtue that Mai Sharo’s younger sister was married by my uncle.

“I am always in touch with him, the last time we met was on Monday at Zindoga Shops where we had a nice time together.”

He also spoke anout his brother Tindo Ngwazi.

“Tindo is my brother and that will never change. We will be together on Saturday at Chitungwiz Aquatic Complex for Baba Sharo’s homecoming gig.

“We have composed a song together and we are looking forward to a memorable night,” he added. However, it is Ngwazi who has divided opinion with some critics saying he is daring Macheso by launching his album in the same month like the legend.
