Prison Break At Chikurubhi Maximum Prison Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) reported

HARARE — Authorities have launched an investigation into a break-in at the Chikurubi Farm Prison canteen that occurred on Sunday night. The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) reported a loss of approximately US$2,673 following the incident.

made by a salesman, Felix Chingwaru, upon his arrival for duty. Initial reports suggest that the perpetrators used an unidentified tool to force open the back door of the facility to gain entry.

Local law enforcement at Highlands Police Station has registered the matter under case number RRB 6604817. Investigators are currently conducting inquiries within the prison complex.

 

Interrogations: Sources indicate that both correctional officers and inmates are being questioned to determine if the theft was an internal or external act.
