Reactions To Chief’s Order For Robert Mugabe To Be Exhumed, Reburied

Chief Zvimba’s ruling in which he ordered former President Robert Mugabe’s body to be exhumed and reburied at the National Heroes Acre has is going viral within and outside Zimbabwe.

The decision has stunned many and has led to debate and discussions about the authority that traditional leaders have. Some have decried Chief Zvimba’s ruling alleging that it violates people’s rights to choose where they want to be interred.
Others are arguing that the traditional leader is overstepping his power and authority as he does not have the legal jurisdiction to make such an order. Others, however, defended the traditional chief saying that he is only doing what is necessary to safeguard the culture and the way of his people.
