Residents from Machengere, Taruzeza, Krima and nearby areas are reporting that their livestock are dying, and they believe this is caused by unsafe practices at Movis Mine in Gokwe.
Community members say that when the mine started operating, it did not put up any protective fencing. Because of this, cattle, goats and donkeys have been entering the mining area and are dying, possibly after being exposed to cyanide.
People have reported the problem to local leaders, but nothing has been done. Just yesterday, on 8 December 2025, three cows belonging to a local resident died, adding to the growing number of livestock losses.
The community is calling for urgent help from the authorities, including MP Tawanda Karikoga, to make sure the mine secures its site and stops more animals from dying.
Affected areas include:
-Machengere
-Taruzeza
-Krima
-Sotile
-Cheza
-Mahachi
-Mugudhura
Residents warn that if nothing is done soon, more livestock will continue to die.pamberi ne vision 2030. plusi futi ikoko ku gokwe hamuziwi peku vhoteraThat's why minister akadzingwa
