ZRP Update – Culpable Homicide Arrest
On 1 June 2025, ZRP Mabelreign arrested Mike Mupinga (40) in connection with a culpable homicide case following a fatal dog attack at his residence in Mabelreign.
The incident occurred on the same day, when the suspect’s pit bull dogs allegedly attacked and fatally mauled Samuel Machara (39). The victim’s body, bearing multiple dog bite wounds, was discovered near the suspect’s property.
The body has since been taken to the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals mortuary for a postmortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
Former Harare City Deputy Mayor Kudzie Kadzombe also stated that she contacted the SPCA, which has since removed four dogs from the property — two pit bulls, one Rottweiler, and one Angarian Mastiff.More details are coming in about Mike Mupinga (40), shown in the picture below, who was arrested today for a culpable homicide case after a deadly dog attack at his home in Mabelreign.
Neighbours say Mupinga was very arrogant. They often complained about the height of his durawall, especially because of the kinds of dogs he had. Mupinga was said to be running a dog breeding business, which explains why he kept different breeds (two pit bulls, one Rottweiler, and one Angarian Mastiff).
Some neighbours also say he was involved in shady or suspicious activities. According to Dug Up and Maynard Manyowa, Mupinga is a known criminal with at least six active cases being investigated by Zimbabwe’s vehicle theft unit. He has also been reported twice for sexual assault and once for attempted murder, with one of the cases involving a gun.
People are now asking how he was still free before this tragedy. At one point, when police came to investigate him, he reportedly released his dogs on the officers, and they had to run for their lives.
Sadly, the victim, Samuel Machara (39), who is said to have had mental health problems, died after being bitten many times on the throat and face.
@PoliceZimbabwe, we need answers.
