Six Killed As Honda Fit Heading to Rusape Collides with Truck near Headlands 💔
Six people died on the spot when a Honda Fit they were travelling in collided head-on with a heavy truck near Yorkshire in Headlands.
The accident occurred at the 142-kilometre peg along the Mutare-Harare Highway.
The truck, a Sino Howo belonging to Chris Logistics, was heading towards Harare, while the Honda Fit, carrying six passengers including the driver, was en route to Rusape.
Preliminary reports suggest the Honda Fit was speeding and attempted to overtake a tractor on a blind curve.
It allegedly encroached into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with the truck.
The smaller vehicle became trapped beneath the truck and was dragged for approximately 50 metres. All six occupants suffered severe injuries and died at the scene.
Their bodies were taken to the Rusape General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the incident.
