These Schools In Zimbabwe At Hama High School,St John’s High School in Chikwaka,At Murewa High School,

Nyaya yemaSchool uniforms iyi yanetsa?? | An investigation by CheckPoint found that some schools in Zimbabwe are forcing parents to buy uniforms only from the school or from selected suppliers. These uniforms are sold at very high prices, much higher than what parents would normally pay in shops.

In many cases, schools are selling uniforms together with other charges as fixed packages. Parents are not allowed to choose what to buy or to negotiate prices. If they refuse to pay, they risk their child losing a place at the school.

?At Murewa High School, school fees are set at US$526, but the compulsory uniform package alone costs US$1 310. This means parents pay more for uniforms than for tuition.

?At St John’s High School in Chikwaka, parents must pay US$855 for uniforms and other compulsory charges, including furniture, textbooks and a church levy. This is in addition to US$608 in school fees and a US$500 infrastructure levy.

?At Hama High School, new Form One learners are required to pay a total of US$1 120. This includes US$450 for tuition and boarding, and US$670 for uniforms. Parents question why the uniform costs more than school and boarding fees combined.
