THE United Methodist Church has plunged into mourning following the death of Reverend Oswell Kaseke, the District Superintendent of Harare Central District, in a car accident, which killed three other people, on Wednesday.
The accident occurred at the Chivake River Bridge in Murehwa. It claimed the lives of Reverend Kaseke and four others, including a young student, who had recently completed her Grade 7 exams.Reverend Kaseke was returning to Harare from his rural home in Mutoko. Bishop Gift Machinga expressed the church’s collective grief in a statement.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Rev Oswell Kaseke, District Superintendent of the Harare Central District of the United Methodist Church.
“His loss is profoundly felt across the church and among all who knew him.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, congregation, and the wider United Methodist Church community.
“May they find comfort in the love and prayers that surround them during this difficult time. May Rev Kaseke’s soul rest in eternal peace.”
As the head of the Harare Central District, Rev Kaseke led several congregations, including Highfield, Glen Norah, Glen View, Budiriro, and Mhondoro United Methodist Churches.
