your posts about crime and corruption that have become deeply rooted in our community. As an entrepreneur trying to thrive in the challenging economy of Zimbabwe, I invested in the transport industry and have been operating for several years.
I would like your help in exposing the corruption among VID officers on the roads. Whenever a truck is stopped by these officers, we are forced to pay at least USD 10, regardless of whether the truck is in perfect condition. If they cannot immediately find a fault, or if they sense reluctance to pay, the truck is often sent to a VID depot for weighbridge. If the truck is not overloaded, they may go to the extent of sending it for a detailed inspection at the pit. Any minor issue can lead to the truck being stripped of its fitness certificate, and we are then instructed to rectify the fault.
Upon returning, it is widely known that without paying at least USD 50, the truck will fail the fitness test. For us, a round trip from Harare to Bulawayo requires a minimum of USD 80 just for VID. We are struggling under this burden and need your assistance in exposing this corruption.
Thank you.
