Zimbabwe’s Vice President General Constantino Chiwenga has expressed concern over the unrest following Tanzania’s disputed elections. Speaking to regional media, Chiwenga urged African leaders to uphold peace and transparency during electoral processes, emphasizing that violence and manipulation only damage democracy.
Social media had been awash with unverified claims linking businessmen Wicknell Chivayo and Zvigananda to alleged election interference in Tanzania, but officials have not confirmed any such involvement. Chiwenga instead called for unity and calm as the region awaits official results, warning against spreading false information that could inflame tensions.
