In one of the cases that left a 56-year-old Letlhakane woman dejected and hopeless after tricksters manipulated her to give away a substantial amount of money for miraculous personal healing and cleansing, Police detectives swiftly commenced the investigations.

 

 

 

 

They focused on identifying the suspects and bringing them to justice. They arrested the suspects. Three Batswana Males, Dimpho Lebakeng, aged 41, of Tonota; Thatayaone Lushiam, 48, of Mahalapye; and a 32-year-old woman, Tuelo Seduke, of Mahalapye, and a Zimbabwean female, Phethani Moyo, appeared before Letlhakane Magistrate Court yesterday on one Count of Obtaining by False Pretences.

 

 

 

 

 

According to the Charge Sheet, the accused persons and another not before the Court obtained the sum of P845 000.00 belonging to the victim between 20th April and 9th May 2025 at or near Letlhakane Village with intent to defraud.

 

Phethani Moyo also faces another Count of Entering Botswana through Ungazetted Point of Entry in 2019. 

The detectives managed to seize vehicles, cell phones, and clothing believed to be proceeds of crime.

 

The accused have been remanded in Prison and will be back in Court on 09/06/2025
