THE Zimbabwe women’s soccer team, the Mighty Warriors, today failed to picth up at the National Sports Stadium in Harare where they were scheduled to play against Zambia in an Olympic qualifier. A small crowd of anticipating fans had also pitched their seats, while the Mighty Warriors team medics were also there at the giant stadium. ZIFA Communications and Competitions Manager Xolisani Gwesela blamed clubs for the fracas, saying they withdrew their players who were camped at the ZIFA Village. “I can confirm that Black Rhinos Queens, Blue Swallows and Correctional Queens all went to

Zifa Tell Moses Chunga You Are Not Qualified To Coach Telone

ZIFA have blocked Moses “Bambo” Chunga from securing a job with Premiership side TelOne saying he doesn’t possess a Caf A licence. They also claim he doesn’t qualify for an exemption, which is given to coaches who do not have the badge, even though he is a former league championship winner. While Zifa technical director, Wilson Mutekede, made the ruling, it’s ironic that Dutch coach Erol Akbay, who doesn’t have a Caf A licence, was given the greenlight to take charge of Ngezi Platinum Stars. Englishman Mark Harrison, who also didn’t have a Caf A licence, was allowed to coach Harare City for more than a year. Shockingly, the Zifa decision to bar Chunga, a former Warriors’ captain, comes just a few days after they handed the national te

Chiyangwa Mocks & Laughs At Life Ban By ZIFA

Former ZIFA president Philip Chiyangwa says the life ban imposed on him by the new association’s leadership “is a joke,’’ which will be dismissed by those who make pronouncements that matter in this game, including FIFA and CAF. He claims the current ZIFA leadership has been trying to run away from his shadow, but will have to live with the reality he now works at a higher level as the COSAFA president, than leading a national football organisation. “This is a joke and it’ll remain a joke and people here want winners, they don’t want losers,’’ said Chiyangwa. “COSAFA is the regional body and you cannot have people in ZIFA mooting sanctions against a superior authority, as has happened. “What worries me, and what the

In an interview with Sunday Mail, Chitiyo feels abandoned by Makepekepe who might deregister him during this mid-season transfer window. “People love you when you are fit and playing, but when you are down and out they seem not to care much,” said Chitiyo. “Yes I wasn’t injured on the field of play, but I expected the club to help me because I am a Caps United player. “If I mattered to them would they be dragging their feet on this matter? Can a club like Caps United not raise such an amount? How about borrowing? “I love Caps United and expect them to love me ba
