A ZIMBABWE Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) female officer was tragically stabbed to death by her uncle on Christmas Day in Bulilima District, Matabeleland South, in what police suspect was a revenge attack.The incident occurred at around 8am and has left the Tshuma family and community in shock. The suspect,         Khuliso Tshuma (35), who recently benefited from the Presidential amnesty, was arrested in connection with the murder of his niece, Ms Priscilla Tshuma.Nine years ago, Khuliso was convicted of raping Ms Tshuma and sentenced to prison in 2016. MAPUTO, Jan 9 (Reuters) - Mozambique opposition leader Venancio Mondlane returned home on Thursday, after fleeing in the days following a hotly contested October election that sparked demonstrations in which scores of protesters have been killed. Mondlane says the Oct. 9 poll was rigged and has called on his supporters to take to the streets across the southern African nation of 35 million. Harare man has been killed in a violent altercation after mocking another man as gay for wearing earrings. Maxwell Mahanzu (32) was struck with a stone and died instantly at the Boka Bus Terminus along the Harare-Masvingo Road on Monday.Police spokespersons confirmed the arrest of Benedict Ruebena, who is now facing murder charges.       In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said: “On 06/01/25, Police in Harare arrested Benedict Ruebena in connection with a case of murder which occurred at Boka Bus terminus along Harare-Masvingo Road.   Mutimba, who joined ZEC in 2018, died on January 2, 2025.  Her career trajectory within ZEC saw her rise swiftly through the ranks from Administration Officer for Bindura District to Acting Chief Procurement Officer at the Commission’s Head Office. ZEC issued a statement mourning her death, saying:         “The Honourable Chairperson Mrs. Justice Priscilla Makanyara Chigumba, the Deputy Chairperson Ambassador Rodney Simukai Kiwa, Commissioners, the Acting Chief Elections Officer Mr. Simbarashe Tongayi, and the entire Commission staff would like to express their sincere condolences to the Mutimba family on the untimely demise of Ms. Simbisai Mutimba. May her soul rest in eternal peace.”
