MDC leader Nelson Chamisa has called for unity across the African continent. Below is Chamisa’s full statement : The attacks against fellow Africans in South Africa are appalling and heartbreaking. We call upon our African brothers and sisters to show a full sense of brotherhood and sisterhood consistent with the timeless wisdom of Ubuntu. Brother against brother or Sister against sister is inimical to Ubuntu. Extremely disturbing are scenes and sights of violence and horrendous attacks in South Africa. It is time to take decisive action to protect all in South Africa and stop any attacks on fellow Africans. Priority must be given to individual security & stopping of all manner and forms of violence. While these attacks are routinely described as xenophobic, it is evi

Msindo: Chamisa Damaged MDC With His Failed Demos

PROMINENT cleric and founder of the Destiny for Africa Network,. Obadiah Msindo, has said MDC leader Nelson Chamisa committed political suicide and lost a golden opportunity to push for electoral reforms ahead of the 2023 elections when he spurned the official opposition position and chose street-based violence and protests. Msindo said by also spurning the dialogue process called by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Chamisa will head into the next harmonized elections in a much weaker position because he failed to take his chance and opted for a hard-line stance against Zanu-PF which will simply never work in MDC’s favour. Msindo said this on Friday evening at the launch of Pastor Olinda Marowa’s album in Harare, an event that Destiny for Africa Network funded. “Whe

Tafi Mhaka: The problem with Petina Gappah and Zanu-PF elites

Citing government’s dismal human rights record, as well as “bureaucratic wrangling and bungling and inefficiencies, incompetence, not enough change agents, basic fear of change as well as an imaginative deficit that cannot see beyond the present”, Petina Gappah, a lawyer and writer, last week left her position as a trade and investment adviser to President Emmerson Mnangagwa. However, Gappah absolved Mnangagwa from the grim mess gripping government. Instead, Gappah chose to blame government officials who want to “eat” for derailing a “difficult transition”. But, as Zimbabweans can attest to, Mnangagwa’s leadership has been anything but exemplary, visionary or altruistic. His deployment of ZNA soldiers who killed 6 civilians on August 1,
