Glen View Crescent 2 Granny Forced to Walk Through Sewage as Home Floods

Residents of Glen View Crescent 2 in Harare are raising alarm after an elderly grandmother was left with no option but to walk through raw sewage flooding her home, following a severe sewer blockage that has gone unattended.

According to neighbors, burst sewer pipes have turned the yard and surrounding pathways into a pool of human waste. The situation has persisted for days, creating a serious health hazard, especially for the elderly woman who lives alone and has limited mobility. With no alternative shelter, she is forced to step through contaminated water just to move in and out of her house.

Community members say repeated calls and reports to Harare City Council have produced no response, despite the obvious risk of cholera, typhoid, and other waterborne diseases. The smell is overwhelming, children are exposed, and dignity has been stripped away from a woman who should be protected, not neglected.

“This is not just about sewage. It’s about human dignity,” said one resident. “How can a grandmother be left to live like this in Glen View in 2026?”

Residents are now appealing directly to city authorities and the Ministry of Local Government to intervene urgently, repair the sewer line, disinfect the area, and ensure temporary assistance for the affected woman.

Harare City Council, please act.

This is a public health emergency, and an elderly life is being put at risk.
