The video then showed two police officers entering the aircraft and removing the individual with the assistance of the passenger with a background in security services – with applause erupting from fellow passengers as they exit the plane. What was meant to be a routine flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town this past weekend took an unexpected detour when a FlySafair passenger began disrupting the flight, reports Cape {town} Etc.

Flight FA600, which departed from OR Tambo International Airport on Saturday, 10 May, was forced to make an unscheduled diversion to Bloemfontein after a passenger allegedly disrupted the flight, leaving both crew and fellow travellers rattled.

According to a post shared in community Facebook group FlyAfrica, the passenger caused such a stir that some fellow passengers dubbed ‘happy helpers’ in the post felt they needed to step in and restrain him until the plane could safely land in Bloemfontein before making its way to its original route.

Cape {town} Etc has reached out to FlySafair for further details. While we have yet to receive comment from FlySafair, video footage of the disruptive incident that took place onboard a flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town over the weekend has emerged, offering an in-flight glimpse of what exactly occurred, reports Cape {town} Etc.

According to TikTok user @kundaimurapa, who was on the flight and shared the footage, explained that the disruptive individual ‘was being disorderly on the flight and threatening passengers all because he was triggered by not getting the right change for a bottle of water that he had bought’ before proceeding to ‘scream’ about needing to be in Durban, despite being on a flight to Cape Town.

Kundai added that the individual was then subdued and restrained with cable ties by two fellow passengers who had a ‘background in security services’. Thereafter, the captain of Flight FA600 decided to divert the flight to Bloemfontein to ‘get this guy removed from the flight’.

In the footage, the disruptive individual can be seen being subdued and restrained by one of the other passenger, with a flight attendant standing beside them, before being ‘escorted’ to the empty seat in the same row that Kundai was sitting.
