Zimbabwean music icon Jah Prayzah and his band faced a terrifying ordeal in the skies after their private plane encountered a violent storm while en route to a performance in Malawi. The turbulence, described by crew as “sudden and extreme,” sent shockwaves through the cabin, with passengers screaming, clutching their seats, and some breaking into prayer as the aircraft shook uncontrollably for nearly 15 minutes. According to sources close to the team, the plane dropped hundreds of feet in seconds, sending equipment flying and leaving a few band members with minor injuries.
The incident occurred just after the aircraft had crossed into Zambian airspace. Lightning flashed through the windows as the storm grew more aggressive, with strong crosswinds battering the plane. Jah Prayzah, known for his calm demeanor, reportedly stood up mid-flight to reassure his crew and fans onboard, despite flight attendants begging everyone to remain seated. “We thought it was the end,” one backing vocalist whispered after landing. “I’ve never seen our general scared like that. He tried to be strong, but we all saw the fear in his eyes.”
Miraculously, the pilot managed to steer the aircraft out of the storm cell and made an emergency landing at Lusaka International Airport. Shaken but safe, the band was quickly attended to by paramedics and airport staff. Jah Prayzah later posted a message on social media thanking God for protecting them, along with a photo of the group kneeling in prayer on the tarmac. Fans flooded the post with messages of support, while aviation experts have called the crew’s survival a “miracle in the sky.”
