Mukuru Vatisiya ZBC Confimed

FORMER Arcadia United forward Ernest “EK” Katanda has died.

He was 73.

His sister, Mavis Katanda, confirmed that the former footballer died at his Houghton Park home in Harare on Wednesday afternoon following a short illness.

 

 

 

 

Katanda began his football career with lower-division side Chikwanha Rangers before joining top-flight club Arcadia United in the late 1970s.

 

 

 

 

He also represented the Zimbabwe senior national football team between 1976 and 1980.

During his playing career, Katanda had trials in Greece alongside the late Dynamos striker Oliver “Flying Saucer” Kateya.

He is survived by six children.
