Outrage as Girl Brutally Attacked at Magaranhehwe School in Rushinga

Shock and anger have erupted in Magaranhehwe School, Rushinga, after reports that four male students allegedly ganged up on a girl, assaulting her during school hours. Witnesses say the girl was surrounded and attacked using fists and sticks, then kicked repeatedly in what parents are describing as extreme bullying and gender-based violence. The incident has left the community shaken, with many asking how such an attack could happen in a place meant to protect children.

Parents, activists, and residents are now demanding swift action from the police and education authorities, insisting that those responsible be held accountable to deter future violence. Calls are growing for counseling for the victim, disciplinary measures at the school, and a thorough investigation to establish what safeguards failed. “Police, do your job. Protect the girl child,” community members say, warning that silence and delays only embolden bullies. As Zimbabwe continues to battle school-based violence, the Rushinga case has become a rallying cry for zero tolerance to bullying and urgent reforms to keep learners safe.
