There was another record crowd at Alex Sports Club when ladies converged for the second edition for the most popular outdoor party, Doek and Slay yesterday.

Following the recent show in Kadoma last Sunday, the organisers can add another accolade to their attendance outbreak honours list.

Dressed in any sport jersey and white caps with a touch of a sunglasses, the ladies understood the assignment. The ladies were also allowed to bring their children.

Some of the ladies had the privilege to witness the performance of Macheso for the first time.

The organisers lost count of the tickets sold, meaning the event has now become the first women’s party in history to take in more than the tickets prepared for a single show.

Organisers of the event said this edition has broken the record with the biggest attendance of all time.In an interview with the organisers, they are happy with how Doek and Slay is now becoming a “cult” for the ladies.

The much-anticipated ladies’ event was graced by Alick Macheso, Nutty O, and Freeman, who gave the bumper crowd value for money.Qounfuzed and Platinum Prince came to perform as surprise acts.

“We can safely say that this edition was the biggest event with over thousands of women in attendance.

“We appreciate all the ladies who are dedicated to come and share this experience with us,” said one of the organisers.

Macheso, who usually performs for male-dominated crowds surely gave a good performance which proved that the ladies do listen to his music.

Some of the ladies, who attended the event, are already preparing for the next Harare edition as one of them asked if the date for the next Harare edition has been set already

“This is one of most fun dole and slay I have attended so far and I am happy that I get to experience Macheso’s set for the first time.

“Women are always labelled as troublesome but look how wonderful it is for thousands of women being in one place and enjoying, without fighting.”

One Mitchell Musonza said:

“Thank you to the Doek and Slay team for having us at your hearts we really appreciate what you do for us. Some of have never been to Macheso show but you guys made that possible.”

“You won’t believe it if I tell you that I am from Kadoma and I had to travel this side to attend because women from Harare know how to party. Last week we had our on party but I had to come and party with the Harare team because the more the merrier,” said another lady in the crowd.

The all-women parties is set for the first UK edition which promises to be a unique experience, blending Zimbabwean traditions with British flair.

Doek & Slay will be held in the United Kingdom on September 6 as part of the second edition.
