ZRP Magunje Hurungwe Cubsden Consolidate along the Sanyati River, allegedly stole over US$246,000 and sold all the fuel from the company’s parked heavy-duty trucks.

Some officers from the ZRP Magunje, Hurungwe, who were deployed at Cubsden Consolidate along the Sanyati River, allegedly stole a safe containing over US$246,000 and sold all the fuel from the company’s parked heavy-duty trucks.

The private company was carrying out a river rehabilitation program when the ZRP, led by Officer Commanding Mash West Tawonei Nyazema, stopped the work, accusing the company of illegal riverbed mining.

However, the company later obtained a High Court order requiring the ZRP to leave the area. When company officials returned, they found thousands of litres of fuel missing and the safe with over US$246,000 gone.

The police are reportedly refusing to comply with the urgent High Court order, despite the operations being legally approved.

A company official said they are still compiling a full list of missing property and equipment, with plans to take legal action against both Nyazema and the Magunje Officer in Charge.

Cubsden has not been able to operate for the past month due to the ZRP’s actions. The disruption has affected both the rehabilitation project and the management of the Rengwe Conservancy. The company estimates losses of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
