Cape Town is experiencing a significant public health challenge, as nearly 4,000 people seek treatment

#ZCUpdates: Cape Town is experiencing a significant public health challenge, as nearly 4,000 people seek treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) each month in City Health clinics. This figure translates to about 130 visits daily and reflects an ongoing surge in STIs, particularly in popular nightlife areas like Long Street and the V&A Waterfront. The influx of remote workers and tourists in a city celebrated for its vibrant culture and digital nomad lifestyle is believed to contribute to these rising rates.

Health officials stress the importance of early testing and treatment to prevent complications associated with STIs. The City of Cape Town highlights that while progress has been made in HIV prevention with access to PrEP, this does not address bacterial STIs such as syphilis and gonorrhea, which are on the rise.

“Sxual health affects every aspect of our wellbeing,” said Francine Higham, the Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, urging residents to engage in open conversations about their health and seek care when needed.Capetowm is the biggest bedroomStay single and be safeWell it would be nice to urge each other to abstain or use protection, this might be about news is SA but we can

take note, because how accurate can we say we are, if someone with knowledge can share where you can get free STI screening in Zimbabwe, because the few places that do charge $20 for full spectrum viral STI check. Correct me if I'm wrong, can we then say we are in the clear in as far as the spread of these illnesses are concerned??
