Drunk” Police Officer Kills Suspect A police officer in Chimanimani is now facing a murder charge after allegedly fatally injuring a man while reportedly under the influence of alcohol.
It is alleged that Ncube attempted to trim Mtimba’s beard with a knife but accidentally slashed his chin and cheek, causing severe injuries. Mtimba was rushed to Mutambara Hospital, where he was later declared dead.
After the incident, Ncube turned himself in to authorities. He remains in police custody as the case continues through the courts.According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), on 25 February 2026, Bhekimpilo Ncube (35), the officer in charge of Chikukwa Police Base, received a report that Godman Mtimba (34) had been acting violently in the area.
The NPA states that the following day, Mtimba was taken into custody and brought to Chikukwa Business Centre, where Ncube was reportedly drinking beer at the time.
