WE don’t know the actual value of the SUPER CAR collection which the late Ginimbi had but we all seem to know that it was quite impressive and there is no doubt that it cost millions of dollars to assemble.
Ginimbi loved cars.
Not just ordinary cars but the kind of cars which only the rich and famous are known to have in their car ports and which will always attract attention wherever they roll.
It’s something that runs in the veins of many celebrities around the world with a fine car collection providing the finishing touches to their status as the rich and famous.
Of course, not every celebrity does that but many of them do.
Our calculations are that Ginimbi probably splashed about US$3,893,370 just to buy his fine collection of super cars.
That is just the cost.
For the cars to get to his mansion in Domboshava it cost more because he would then have to fork out import duty, freight and other related costs.
Not everything was probably done by the book, which makes it even impossible to estimate the true cost of landing the vehicles.
The controversy surrounding the Lamborghini and Rolls Royce, which ended up being impounded by authorities who accused him of undervaluing the two cars, is a case in import.
But, even without including import duty and related costs, it’s still a huge investment and it’s something that Ginimbi was proud of.
However, just FIVE years after his death, ironically, in a car crash in Harare on November 8, 2020, Ginimbi’s luxury car empire had crumbled.
His collection of super cars had disappeared and virtually all of them are now in the hands of new owners, including a local businessman who now owns four of the vehicles.
However, a number of sources have been shedding light on how this fleet of super cars disappeared.
“It’s a very sad story because Mbinga (Ginimbi) had really assembled a super fleet but it’s now all gone,” said a source.
“It’s been happening for some years now, these big cars being sold, many of them for what you can describe as a song for one reason or another.
“Some of the cars were sold to some people who had established special relationships with the people who were the new owners of these cars, we talking about a love relationship here, and I think in the heat of relationships, things happen.
In such circumstances, speculation rises and there are a lot of stories flying around right now but the thing is that the cars are gone and Mbinga could be turning in his grave.”
