Glen Norah man was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife early on Christmas morning following a violent domestic dispute over the late preparation of supper, police have confirmed.
The victim, Levy Mautsa, a kombi driver, succumbed to multiple knife wounds inflicted during a confrontation that began late on Christmas Eve.
His wife, whose name has not been released by authorities, remains at large as police conduct a manhunt.
According to Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, the altercation started when Mautsa became upset that supper was not ready.
“Circumstances indicate that a domestic dispute arose between the deceased and his wife over the late preparation of supper. It is alleged that Mautsa assaulted her with open hands and damaged her cellphone.”
A neighbour, Blessing Chengeti, intervened around midnight after the couple’s fight spilled from their room to a spot near his door, temporarily calming the situation.
The pair then returned to their room.
However, the violence escalated several hours later.
Inspector Chakanza detailed the subsequent events: “Later, the wife called a workmate, indicating that she had attacked Mautsa.”
In a distressed phone call, the wife confessed to stabbing her husband three times with a kitchen knife and urged the workmate to check on him.

Upon arrival, police discovered Mautsa’s body with deep cuts on his left shoulder, neck and back.
A kitchen knife, believed to be the weapon, was recovered from the garden outside the home.
“The body was transported to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination,” Inspector Chakanza said.
Police are now appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect as the investigation continues.
