It is clear that Zimbabwe’s version of Big Brother – One House Zimbabwe was long overdue as its website crashed moments after it was launched to the public to apply to be housemates. With US$50 000 up for grabs, it is not surprising that the website crashed as hopefuls likely rushed to the website to give the show a try. According to TeeMak, one of the organisers of the TV reality show, the website, www.onehouse.tvhad close to 40 000 hits (visitors) within the first 10 minutes, overwhelming the server and ultimately leading it to crash. Yesterday, we launched onehouse.tv website for applications and we had 39 000 hits in the first 10 minutes and our server crashed,” said TeeMak. He however said their technical team is working flat out on rectifying this p

MDC-T president Thokozani Khupe and her political rival Nelson Chamisa, whose two-year court battle ended with Chamisa on the losing side, have each begun digging deep into the Bible for verses that seem to attack the opponent. Chamisa recently lost the legitimacy court case at the Supreme Court, which ruled that Khupe is reinstated the interim party leader for the next 90 days ahead of an extraordinary congress. It was Chamisa who escalated the fight to a spiritual level after he took a quote from the Bible, which some of his followers interpreted to mean he was comparing himself to Jesus who was betrayed by his close lieutenant, Judas. Thursday evening, Chamisa wrote on Twitter: “Then one of the Twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and asked, &l
YOUTHS in the opposition MDC aligned to Nelson Chamisa have threatened to prematurely come out of the 21-day national lockdown and unleash bloodbath if the rival camp led by Thokozani Khupe moves into the party headquarters in Harare. The two camps have been tussling for control of the main party building in central Harare since the Supreme Court ruling last week which reinstated Khupe as the party leader and reduced Chamisa to the portfolio of secretary for policy and research. However, the two camps have been playing mind games on each other over control of the party headquarters, with reistated MDC Secretary-General Douglas Mwonzora telling State-owned media that he had locked up the offices. MDC Alliance national youth secretary-general, Stephen Chuma (pictured), yesterd
TOP officials in the MDC camp led by Nelson Chamisa have dismissed reports that the camp led by Thokozani Khupe, Morgen Komichi and Douglas Mwonzora has seized control of the headquarters in Harare CBD. MDC chairperson in the Chamisa camp, Thabitha Khumalo, told Voice of America that it is “cheap propaganda” to say Mwonzora had taken over the headquarters. Khumalo also dismissed reports in the state-controlled Herald newspaper that Mwonzora and his friends had locked up the building and are now in control of the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House. “… That is nonsense, there is nothing like that. The Morgan Richard Tsvangirai House still belongs to president Nelson Chamisa and the MDC Alliance. “It’s business as usual. The enemy is being defeate
Mr Nelson Chamisa, whose ascension to the helm of the opposition MDC-T in February 2018 was recently nullified by the Supreme Court, has to account for the $7 million he received under the Political Parties Finance Act. Last week, the Supreme Court upheld a High Court ruling which declared Mr Chamisa as an illegitimate leader of the opposition political party and nullified decisions he made while purporting to be president. The party was also ordered to hold its congress within the next three months to correct the illegality, which was considered an affront to the organisation’s founding values and constitution as a social democratic party. Dr Thokozani Khupe, who was declared as the legitimate acting president of the party as the most senior elected official after the demise o
Khupe now holds sway over both the party’s legislators and councillors, who were elected in the 2018 national polls under the MDC Alliance banner. FEARS are mounting regarding the future of the MDC, amid warnings from both within and outside the country’s main opposition that Tuesday’s Supreme Court ruling could have far-reaching implications on the party and its performance in the 2023 elections. Speaking to the Daily News yesterday, both party insiders and political analysts expressed grave concern about the continuing brawling within the party, amid indications that the main protagonists on both sides of the mindless bloodletting are prepared to take the party down with them. “We may not want to admit it, but we are in a royal, mega mess that g
While their foot soldiers fought bloody physical battles in the townships, Zanu PF and MDC-T politicians last week sat on the same table engaging in peaceful discussions. The occasion was a public debate over whether or not public officials should declare their assets. Zanu PF’s Goodson Nguni made stunning accusations, claiming the MDC-T headquarters, Harvest House in central Harare is the property of Ian Makone, the party’s director for elections. Makone is also Chief secretary to Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai. The MDC-T has used its headquarters as a refuge for victims of political violence and this is one issue that the Zanu PF representative questioned. These political parties should tell us whether the safe houses they put displaced people are owned by po
Former Higher and Tertiary Education Minister Jonathan Moyo has threatened to reveal MDC-T Secretary-General Douglas Mwonzora’s plot to overthrow Nelson Chamisa when the two erstwhile colleagues were part of the MDC party which contested the 2018 elections under the MDC Alliance banner. Posting on microblogging site Twitter, Moyo said he has evidence to show that Mwonzora sent him a WhatsApp message, asking for his help to reach the late former President Robert Mugabe to seek sponsorship to fight Chamisa. Wrote Moyo: “He actually sent me a WhatsApp message, asking me to help find him a sponsor (read the late former President Mugabe) to fight @nelsonchamisa. This was after the November 2017 military coup. This fellow is too duplicitous. Let him say nyoo & the V11s will
"I would not want that person as an advisor to my party on democracy, I say this with the greatest respect. He has a right of personal opinion but he is not welcome in the MDC. NEWLY reinstated MDC Secretary-General Douglas Mwonzora has ruled out working with former Zanu-PF propagandist Professor Jonathan Moyo, saying Moyo is a toxic and divisive character who has never apologized for his role in polarizing the Zimbabwean political landscape through his ruthless control of the media while he was still in good books with Zanu-PF. Moyo, who fled the country in November 2017 when the government of Robert Mugabe was toppled by the military, remains in self-exile and has supported the MDC under Nelson Chamisa. “I WOULD NOT WANT THAT PERSON AS AN ADVISOR TO MY PARTY O
