Vice President Constantino Chiwenga had his first interview in more than 4 months. During Chiwenga’s first interview, he thanked the Zimbabwean people for their prayers during his darkest moments. Chiwenga was in China where he was receiving treatment for an unknown ailment which has been reported as poisoning in some quarters. During this first interview, Chiwenga said that the prayers by the Zimbabwean people had allowed him to pull through his life-threatening health situation. Eyebrows were raised when ailing Vice President Constantino Chiwenga’s Wikipedia profile claimed yesterday that he died on the 18th of November at a Chinese military hospital. However the profile has since been updated to show that VP Chiwenga is very much alive and well. His academic qualifications(Ph.D in Genocide) have also been updated to Political Science. According to sources, Chiwenga is set to return home after recovering from the two major surgeries he had to undergo. Several Harare butcheries have been closed down while their owners and some meat vendors were arrested this week during a joint raid by police and city authorities on butcheries selling uninspected meat believed to be contaminated. The raided butcheries are in Mabvuku, Dzivarasekwa, Highfield, Southlea Park, Warren Park, Glen View and Budiriro. Deputy Harare police provincial spokesperson Assistant Inspector Webster Dzvova and the City Health Services Department confirmed that they were conducting a crackdown on the errant butcheries and meat vendors. The meat from the raided butcheries and vendors was confiscated and sent for laboratory testing. The raid followed reports that some butcheries are using embalming chemicals as meat preservatives.
