First Capital Bank Retrenches Employees

First Capital Bank Zimbabwe (FCB), formerly Barclays Bank, has laid off 120 workers as the economic crisis continues to take a toll on the beleaguered financial services sector, NewsDay can exclusively reveal. The workers were served with the retrenchment letters early last month and ceased reporting for duty on August 31. “We confirm that Barclays retrenched a total of 120 workers of which 97 were our members. Harare magistrate Lovemore Mapiye has set 19 November as the trial date for flamboyant businessman Genius ‘Ginimbi’ Kadungure who is answering to charges of tax evasion amounting to $3 Million. South Africans Burn Zimbabwean Gonyeti Drivers House

A ZIMBABWEAN truck driver was left traumatized and pleading to be allowed to go back home to Zimbabwe after his house was burned to rubble in the ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.  Emmanuel Manyere was renting a house in Jeppestown near Johannesburg, but a gang comprising of his neighborhood youths burned the house to ashes saying they did not want foreigners taking over their jobs. Pregnant Woman Dies Of Negligence At Parirenyatwa

Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals has launched an investigation into the death of a pregnant woman, Sharon Munyonho who died at the hospital’s Mbuya Nehanda maternity wing on Sunday due to alleged negligence by nurses manning the ward. The late Munyonho is said to have started complaining of labour pains Saturday evening after having been induced to go into labour in the afternoon. It is alleged that Munyonho started having contractions that afternoon but was only taken to the labour ward around 2am, from which she did not receive any service until 6am.
