Chamisa Should Consider Starting A New Party

A ZIMBABWEAN human rights lawyer says the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa is unlikely to seek a court order to stop the Thokozani Khupe MDC-T from using the Alliance to field candidates in the forthcoming parliamentary and council elections. In an interview, Matshobana Ncube said seeking a court order in the High Court to block the MDC-T from using the Alliance would be a waste of time.   The MDC Alliance might go to court to seek an interdict but my worry is that with the decision of the Supreme Court in place, if one had to go to the High Court to seek such an interdict, the High Court will always refer one to the Supreme Court decision to say that question was settled in that Supreme Court decision and so the High Court being an inferior court

Bad News For Job Sikhala Ordered To Stay Off Whatsapp & Social Media

High Court judge, Justice Erica Ndewere has granted Zengeza West MP, Job Sikhala ZWL$ 50 000 bail. The opposition, MDC Alliance’s deputy chairperson’s was initially granted ZWL$ 25 000 bail, but it was raised to ZW$50 000 after court heard he has no title deeds to any of his properties. Justice Ndewere was unconvinced by the magistrate court’s earlier findings that the MP was likely to be a fugitive. “An accused person must be admitted to bail so that he keeps the fabric of his life in place,” she said. Sikhala, who has been in remand for more than 30 days, is facing charges of inciting public violence ahead of the failed July 31 protests. He was ordered to report thrice a week at St Mary’s police and is not allowed to record inciteful content. Sikhala w

Job Wiwa Sikhala Granted $50 000 Bail Judge Blasts Police

HIGH Court judge Erica Ndewere Tuesday granted MDC Alliance vice-chairperson Job Sikhala $50 000 bail. Sikhala is facing charges of inciting public violence. He was arrested last month and has been in remand prison after he was denied bail at the magistrates’ court. In her ruling, the judge attacked the police of using social media in their investigations instead of establishing their own independent probe. She said Sikhala’s conduct was not of a fugitive running from the law, but he was fleeing from unidentified men who were following. Justice Ndewere also blamed the police for using a vague press statement instead of calling Sikhala’s lawyer. She then ordered Sikhala to pay $50 000 with the Harare magistrates’ court’s clerk of court. He was also

Tytan Tactic 68-Year Old British Grandmother Scamed £18,000 By Ghanaian Ben Ten

A lonely British grandmother who was conned out of £18,000 by her Ghanaian toyboy lover and accused of BEATING him has warned other women not to be as naive as she was. The situation is eerily similar to that of socialite Olinda Chapel who accused musician Tytan Skhokho of using her to get UK papers. Tytan also claimed that he was being physically abused by Olinda. The Daily Mail reports that former probation officer Beth Haining fell for Rodney Cudjoe, a Ghanaian musician 30 years her junior. ‘I’ve been a stupid old woman who should know better,’ said 68-year-old Beth, of Redditch in Worcestershire. ‘I used to laugh at women who fall for these good-looking toyboys from abroad and think how gullible they are. Now I’m one of them.’ G

Fadzayi Mahere Says We Should Be Fighting Zanu-PF Not The MDC Name

Spokesperson for the Nelson Chamisa led MDC Alliance, Fadzayi Mahere says the fight between her party and the rival MDC-T faction is not about the name but the ruling Zanu PF party which is stalking her party. Her remarks come in the wake of pronouncements by MDC-T national chairman Morgen Komichi that the party would assume the name MDC Alliance in the upcoming by-elections scheduled for December 5 this year. In an interview with a local radio station, Mahere said there was no confusion in the minds of the electorate because of the 2018 election outcome. “This is not a fight about the name MDC, this is a fight about the representatives of a cause that is genuinely against Zanu PF. If it were just about the MDC Alliance is different from the name MDC-T. The two are different e

Jonathan Moyo Warns Chamisa Change Your Party Name

Professor Jonathan Moyo Monday warned MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa against changing the party’s name following the recent announcement by Thokozani Khupe that she is taking over the name and will be using it in the upcoming by-elections During the MDC T’s 21st anniversary on Saturday, the party’s acting chairperson Morgen Komichi declared that they will be rebranding to MDC Allliance, a coalition of opposition parties which they broke away from to revive the “original” opposition movement. Moyo said if Chamisa is to change the name, it would create passage for manipulation as he alleged that Mwonzora and the  Special Anti-corruption Unit (SACU) which works directly under President Emmerson Mnangagwa, will use the name to create “fictiti

Pressure Mounts For Nelson Chamisa

Pressure keeps mounting on MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa as his former top lieutenant and now MDC-T secretary general Douglas Mwonzora has said that MDC Alliance name belongs to the MDC-T and they are contemplating using the name in the forthcoming parliamentary and local authority by-elections. When the Supreme Court judgment reverted MDC-T back to its 2014 structures, rendering the presidency of Chamisa null and void, there has been turmoil in the biggest opposition movement in the country with Thokozani Khupe, through Mwonzora, taking the fight to Chamisa and all his sympathisers. The legitimacy fight between Khupe and Chamisa has claimed the scalp of many legislators and councilors who have been caught in the crossfire. Asked by TellZim News on whether they would let Cham

Kasukuwere Wants To Return To Zanu PF But Zanu PF Says Door Shut On Him

Exiled former Zanu PF political commissar and minister Saviour Kasukuwere is eyeing a return to the party, almost three years after he was expelled following a military coup which collapsed the government of the late president Robert Mugabe. Kasukuwere, now living in South Africa, is still bitter about a leadership change in November 2017 in which the military decisively influenced Zanu PF’s succession politics as Mugabe’s former deputy Emmerson Mnangagwa took over. “I remain a card-carrying member of the party until due process is carried out in line with the party’s constitution. I remain committed to the unity of the party, which is key to sustainable national development,” Kasukuwere wrote on Twitter on Thursday, a day after Zanu PF’s acting sp
