High Court Judge Justice Erica Ndewere has reserved judgement on the bail appeal by incarcerated opposition MDC Alliance Vice Chairman Job Sikhala. Ndewere said the Clerk of Court will advise defence lawyers and law officers when her ruling will be ready to be handed down. Sikhala was arrested last month and charged with inciting violence in connection with July 31st protests against corruption. The MDC Alliance has rejected Zanu-PF attempts to link the party to the shooting death of a soldier in Chivhu last week, and claims that Zimbabwe's main opposition party is training insurgents in Serbia and Moldova. Zanu-PF acting spokesman Patrick Chinamasa made the claims at a news conference on Friday. MDC Alliance President Nelson Chamisa has described his former colleague Douglas Mwonzora, as a sell-out who was fighting an unwinnable petty agenda. For close to six months, Mwonzora, MDC-T interim secretary-general, has been on a warpath, frustrating the operations of the MDC Alliance through recalls on MPs and councillors claiming they had ceased to be MDC-T members. His strength is drawn from an earlier Supreme Court judgment that ruled Chamisa was not the legitimate leader of the MDC-T. The court judgement placed Thokozani Khupe as interim president of the party. The MDC-T has since been reconfigured using its 2014 structures and Mwonzora, who had been relegated to deputy secretary for international relations in the MDC Alliance, bounced back as interim secretary general.

Two gunman believed to have shot two Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) officers in Chivhu on Saturday have been arrested about 20 kilometres from Chivhu Central Business District. The incident occurred after the assailants had approached the police post under the pretence of seeking assistance and later opened fire on the two ZNA officers.
