The Midlands Province has been plunged into mourning following the death of Simbarashe Mutukwe, widely known as Cde Riot, who passed away on Monday. Although the circumstances surrounding his death have not been officially disclosed, some community members have linked his passing to injuries he reportedly sustained in a road traffic accident several months ago.Cde Riot was a well-known figure within ZANU PF structures in the Midlands. The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in Harare in connection with the unlawful possession and smuggling of illicit alcoholic beverages from a neighbouring country. Police said they recovered 2,760 bottles of smuggled alcoholic beverages, each containing 300ml, following the arrest. The recovered contraband has since been taken into police custody. Investigations are in progress to establish the source of the illicit beverages and the intended distribution network. SEVERAL passengers sustained minor injuries after a commuter omnibus overturned at the corner of Jefferson and Arlington Roads in Hatfield onmorning. The commuter omnibus, carrying 18 passengers, was travelling from Seke L in Chitungwiza to Harare’s Central Business District when it veered off the road and landed on its side. According to some passengers, the vehicle appeared to have lost its brakes, prompting the driver to swerve in an attempt to avoid colliding with vehicles ahead.
