HIGH Court judge Justice Edith Mushore has rescinded a default judgment entered against #ThisFlag campaign leader and clergyman, Evan Mawarire, who had lost his $65 000 damages claim against the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), on a technicality in June this year. On June 8, 2020, Justice Mushore ruled against the clergyman following his failure to appear in court when the matter was set for hearing. A warrant of arrest has been issued against MDC-Alliance legislator for Harare West, Joana Mamombe after she failed to attend court for trial on charges of faking abduction. Mamombe’s lawyer, Alec Muchadehama told the court that his client is sick and admitted at a Muchadehama said Mamombe’s doctors told him that she was suffering from anxiety problems and could not attend court. Mamombe is jointly charged with her fellow MDC-Alliance members, Cecelia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova. The three are now expected back in court on September 29 for trial. High Court Judge Justice Erica Ndewere has reserved judgement on the bail appeal by incarcerated opposition MDC Alliance Vice Chairman Job Sikhala. Ndewere said the Clerk of Court will advise defence lawyers and law officers when her ruling will be ready to be handed down. Sikhala was arrested last month and charged with inciting violence in connection with July 31st protests against corruption.
